Williamstown, nestled in the Berkshire Hills, is in the Northwest corner of the Berkshires. It is on the Hoosick and Green rivers about 20 m. N. of Pittsfield. There are five villages. Williamstown, the main one is a lovely residential center on the Green river. It's surrounded by beautiful scenery and its streets are lined with stately old trees. Williamstown is best known for Williams College, an acclaimed private, residential, and liberal arts school. It hosts one of the finest college art museums in the country. Williamstown is also home to The Williamstown Theatre Festival which, every summer, brings together a vast array of artists and offers world class theater as well as other cultural experiences. In addition it offers many training programs to nearly two hundred aspiring theater artists and managers.. Williamstown has many charming shops and restaurants.
Williamstown is an easy beautiful drive from Pittsfield, Lenox or, Stockbridge, 135 miles from Boston and 165 miles from New York City. It is a short drive to North Adams, home of MOCA,, the largest center for contemporary visual and performing arts in the United States.

Open to the public throughout the year, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute has the collection of art and books the Clarks collected over five decades.
